S. G. Brooks received a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Michigan and has worked as a fine arts illustrator and mural painter. Brooks is best known as the illustrator of Smokey the Bear; The Three Armadillies Tuff is his first book for children. He lives in the Washington, DC area.
